Museum closed for two days

Something new is flying into the Rescue Museum! But to assemble this properly, the museum will have to close for two days. Therefore, we will be closed on Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21.

Sea rescuers would not be able to do their work without support from the air. So when the museum received an offer to borrow a former Naval Air Service (MLD) helicopter, naturally we couldn't say no.

It concerns the Agusta Bell helicopter of the type (I)UH-IB. This type of helicopter was used by the Search and Rescue Service of the Royal Netherlands Navy for rescue tasks, among other things. For instance, two helicopters of this type were deployed in 1975 during the disaster involving the lifeboat Christiaen Huygens, which has, of course, been on display in the museum since last year. The helicopter will be placed in the main hall.
