Crowdfunding for Insulinde launches

The iconic lifeboat Insulinde turns one hundred years old in 2027. For nearly a century, she has symbolized courage and exceptional craftsmanship. To allow her to celebrate this special anniversary in full glory, a major restoration is required. The National Rescue Museum cannot do this without your help. Will you help secure her future?

The Insulinde was built in 1927 based on the idea of rescuer Mees Toxopeus. As the world's first self-righting steel motor lifeboat, she managed to save no fewer than 332 lives. With her unique construction, the Insulinde served as an example for all large Dutch lifeboats until 1972.

Behind the scenes, we have been working hard on the future of the Insulinde for months: companies have been approached and funds have been contacted. These contributions cover a large part of the costs, but to make the restoration fully possible, support via our crowdfunding is also indispensable. We aim to raise €50,000 through crowdfunding. This amount is intended for a crucial part of the restoration: conservation. Thanks to conservation, the ship remains in good condition so that future generations can admire it for years to come.

You can help in two ways. Naturally, by donating to the crowdfunding, but also by starting your own campaign. By doing so, you inspire others to join in as well. You show that the Insulinde is important to you and thereby increase the impact.

With your support, the Insulinde can celebrate its centenary in 2027 as a shining icon of Dutch rescue history. Support the National Rescue Museum's restoration project and help save the Insulinde.
