Tellus Expands Day Activities at the Rescue Museum
Starting this week, the National Rescue Museum will host the Tellus Care Group's meeting group three, not two, days a week. This expansion will give even more people with memory problems the opportunity to actively participate in society, in a place that evokes recognition and meaning for many.
The meeting group has been meeting at the museum since January 2025 and has proven to be a great success. The maritime history of Willemsoord closely connects with the lives and memories of the participants. At the museum, they reminisce together and contribute to light activities under the supervision of a Tellus and Wonen Plus Welzijn staff member.
The collaboration between Tellus Care Group, Wonen Plus Welzijn, and the National Rescue Museum demonstrates how heritage and care can strengthen each other. For participants, a morning at the museum feels like part of everyday life: getting out and about, meeting people, and belonging.
With initiatives like this, the Rescue Museum invests in the connection between maritime heritage and the community. By hosting the meeting group more often, the museum offers seniors with memory problems a familiar place where they can share memories and actively participate. In this way, the museum demonstrates that heritage is not only preserved but also meaningful in today's daily life.
