Rescue Museum at the Traditional Ships Fair

On November 7, 8, and 9, the National Rescue Museum will be at the Traditional Ships Fair. This year, we'll be there, outside our stall, to tell the story of the Insulinde. In 2027, the Insulinde lifeboat will turn 100! But to reach this milestone in all its glory, she needs a major renovation.

An icon of lifeboat history

In 1927, the Insulinde was built based on the revolutionary idea of skipper Mees Toxopeus. Her unique design made her an icon of Dutch lifeboat history. She is the very first self-righting steel motor lifeboat in the world, and her unique hull design reduces the impact of high waves. As a result, the boat became the model for all major Dutch lifeboats until 1972.

Help preserve the Insulinde

The Insulinde is largely in its original condition, but now needs a thorough restoration. Only then can she celebrate her 100th birthday in 2027.
